The development of major sites requires the ability to think on a grand scale and to handle issues involving the impact on the landscape, vehicular and pedestrian movement, land use distribution and the urban design strategy.

The practice has been selected by a number of national developers to prepare Master Plans as the pre-cursor for negotiations with the local planning authority and the submission of detailed planning proposals.

The proposal was to develop about 40 hectares of land on the edge of Bracknell, Berkshire for the Carroll Group. The development would accommodate about 1200 new homes.

The existing structure of extensive woodlands and tree belts were used as the basis for the formation of a new neighbourhood comprising a series of identity areas each of which would be distinctive in terms of character and density of development. Lower density housing was located adjacent to existing woodlands and on the western edge of the site to provide an appropriate transition to a country park and the rural area beyond.

Provision would also be made for a neighbourhood centre, a park and ride facility, a small business park and the re-location of Bracknell Town Football Club.
